Why wasn’t this comment deleted by ‘CiF’ moderators? ‘Nuke Israel’ edition (Updated)

A guest post by AKUS

The reader comment below (beneath the line of a Guardian editorial on the Syrian crisis), which suggests that Israel should be destroyed by arming its enemies with nuclear weapons, has remained up so far for almost 12 hours.

nukeAt least one commenter has complained to the Guardian with no results – almost 12 hours later.

Those familiar with CiF Watch would of course understand that this one example is indicative of a broader problem at ‘Comment is Free’.  As we’ve shown in countless posts, CiF moderators often demonstrate egregious double standards when determining which comments get deleted – decisions purportedly based on whether such comments violate their ‘Community Standards‘.

UPDATE: Shortly after our post, the comment was deleted by ‘CiF’ moderators.

  1. I remember very well the poor lying Matt Seaton sweating explanations regarding the not-banning of Wlliam Babthorpe the wannabe gas chamber operator after he demanded the killing all of Jews on the WB including women and children.

  2. They left it up because to the CIF moderators it was unexceptional. To one extent or another they agree with the sentiments, and they only removed it when they belatedly realized how it looked to other people.

I have done this work, I know how they think and operate.

Oh please. You don’t seriously believe such demented drivel, do you?

  3. Interesting.

The second has vanished entirely. Apparently there is a sense of … something, though not shame, at the Guardian. Self preservation, perhaps.

As is normal procedure, a post considered offensive is shown as deleted. All responses to it are removed without trace.

  4. ‘JohnManyars’ symbolizes the rage and fury of tens of thousands on Guardian/Independent/BBC who can’t bear to see Israel strong, proud and successful whilst the Arabs are weak, disunited and humiliated.

@JohnManyars: even *if* the situation was turned upside down, your own personal faults and weaknesses wouldn’t disappear miraculously overnight. If Israel didn’t exist, you and your fellows would need _another_ scapegoat to blame for the state of the world and your failure to measure up…..

  5. I’d have supposed the Grauniad was an ocean of sanity compared with mainstream Israeli newspapers which regularly publish gross racist smears such as “Paleosimians,” “Oil Ticks,” “koranimals,” “ragheads”

    • Proof of the nonsense you’ve just spouted?
Also, have you actually started going thread-to-thread, even on pages more than a month old, to troll?!
You ought to be banned, ASAP!
