Ali Abunimah Tweets for a third violent Intifada

Ali Abunimah, who was published at ‘Comment is Free’ and The Huffington Post through 2009, is a Palestinian American journalist who’s argued that Zionism is inherently incompatible with human rights, is an opponent of the existence of a Jewish state within any borders, has characterized Israel as a supremacist” state, and has approvingly cited those who compare Israeli behavior to Nazi Germany.

Abunimah is also co-founder of the site, Electronic Intifada.

More recently, Abunimah, from the safety of his Chicago home, Tweeted the following.

The essay at Electronic Intifada he linked to explicitly calls for another Intifada – necessarily evoking the 2nd Intifada, which, from 2000 through 2004, claimed over 1,000 innocent Israeli lives.

Ali Abunimah believes Israel is based on a Jewish “supremacist” ideology, has no right to exist and whose end should be facilitated by a coordinated campaign of violence against its civilians – men, women and children who, per such moral calculus, are fair game.

Its getting harder and harder to understand how such anti-Israel activists can be characterized as “progressive” in even the broadest sense of the word.

  1. The EI-post Abunimah links to is certainly a pathetic illustration of the Palestinian resolve to hold on to their pose of the eternally victimized while projecting all their violent fantasies on Israel.

  2. Go ahead, Ali. Make right-wingers of the few left-wing Israeli Jews not converted by the first and second intifadas.

  3. Well it destroyed the Palestinian middle class, set them back economically 20 years, resulted in the deaths of hundreds or more Palestinians as well. This is the definition of success for the Palestinians as long as it entails the murders of hundreds of Jews.

  4. I object to his being called “Palestinian-American.” If anything he is “Arab-American.” It is barely possible to refer to the Arabs of Gaza and Judea and Samaria as “Palestinians,” but as there was no such entity as “Palestine” (such as it is) when his family immigrated to the United States, he can hardly be referred to in that way.

        • Well I think everyone should “mess” with Abunimah in as many different ways as possible ;-) Who knows, he might even enjoy it!

          • Der Guardians UK website DOES mention Israel.

            Except it doesn’t!

And saying “Der Guardian” belittles the Holocaust and the likes of Der Stürmer.

            Shame on you.

            • “And saying ‘Der Guardian’…”

TGIAI has been using this appellation for longer than I can remember, and you only just notice? Reminds me of that time you called me on my contention that the Arab colonists in Palestine are not a nation in its own right—months after I first made that point.

You’re always thinking of points to be cry “For shame!” about.

“…belittles the Holocaust and the likes of Der Stürmer.”

The Guardian is in a a way worse than Der Stürmer; the latter was quite brutally honest about its Jew-hatred, while the former sugarcoats it in the rhetoric of “standing up for human rights and caring for the plight of the Palestinians.” One had no doubts what Der Stürmer stood for, whereas the Guardian pours out its justification of the Islamic murder of Jewish civilians in a drip, drip, drip of subtle anti-Zionist articles (or sometimes not so subtle, q.v. Honderich) as well as guest pieces by mostly Hamas members. (Yes, that bit was Pun Intended.)

Regarding comparisons to the Holocaust… the Far (Marxist) Left does not support murder of the Jews, no, no, no… it “only” delegates that job to its Islamic imperialist allies, subsequently offering an “explanation” as to how Zionism (which of course has nothing to do with Judaism!) “caused” those murders through its “injustices” (the original of which, the injustice of setting up a state for the Jews on Palestine in the first place).

That’s how it is, Pretz. All this touting of your degree at Shaman University won’t change the situation.

            • pretzels, Once again, as of Monday 1:53AM EDT, contrary to what you claim, Der Guardian UK edition, once again drags out it its “favourite” whipping boy, Israel.

              “Israel accused over jailed children
Israeli soldiers lead arrested Palestinian youths
Israel’s military justice system is accused of mistreating Palestinian children arrested for throwing stones”

Shame on you pretzels for making a claim that is so easily refuted.

              Happy Nakba pretzels!

            • Der Guardian continues in the tradition of Der Stürmer, except with the fig leaf of “progressive” journalism, the fig leaf of “anti-Zionist” rather than “Juden Hass”.

Demos and trashing of Israeli stores rather than Juden stores.

Boycotts against Israeli students rather than Juden students.

Der Guardian providing platforms for Islamofascists rather than “Anti-Semites”.

Only the morally blind ignore the facts.

    • Oh pleeese get real, don’t worry I’m not going to send around the heavies you bunch of wussies

  5. I wonder what Ben White thinks/says of this: he has already sanctioned violence if non-violence doesn’t achieve his goals:

“Popular struggle, like violent resistance, is not an end in and of itself; it is a method, a strategy. It is the end goal, decolonization and liberation from occupation and Zionist apartheid, that is ferociously opposed by the self-declared international guardians of the “peace process” and their friends in the Palestinian elite. The rest is just smoke and mirrors.”

    http://electronicintifada.net/content/nonviolent-resistance-means-not-end/7171

i.e. violence is ok if non-violence fails.

If Ben White carries on publishing on EI, it seems hard to see how he can claim to advocate non-violence (if he ever really did).

    Rana Baker writes

“Negotiations have more than once proved to be useless. In fact, they proved to be damaging to the very essence of the Palestinian popular struggle i.e. the Right of Return.”

Ben White has already advocated storming Israel’s borders to effect such a return, in line which his ultimate goal of ending a Jewish majority state, and any Israel shortly thereafter, which in no small part resembles that of Hamas, too.

Is his violence/non-violence distinction in fact ‘just smoke and mirrors’?

  6. Can we call Abunimah a chicken-hawk? If I’m not mistaken he lives in the US, and if he’s advocating for the Palestinians to fight while he sits back and writes more propaganda while doing so, I can’t think of anyone deserving the title more.

    • TGiaI, you and Steven beat me to it. In socialist/communist parlance, the word Progressive has a specific meaning. Whenever I hear it uttered, especially by those who shouldn’t be (for example Mr Cameron, our PM) then I begin to question where their loyalties lie. But then Mr Cameron is also a member of the UAF, so what does that say about him?

      • “But then Mr Cameron is also a member of the UAF, so what does that say about him?”

‘john’ it says he is a member of Unite Against Fascism, so what?

I would hope any politician elected to a democratic body is against Fascism, in fact I would go further and make it part of the oath that MPs have to take that they are opposed to Fascism.

  7. So one might might also say of someone who is involved in promoting an ‘electronic’ intifada, that he’s actually evoking that kind of intifada. Of course, I’d expect nothing less of the charitable folks on this hate-site.

  8. Shame on you pretzels for making a claim that is so easily refuted.

Yes, now you’ve waited until Israel is mentioned again – which it wasn’t whenever I said it wasn’t. Unlike you I am not a barefaced liar.
And all the monkeys clap along again, despite your posts being deeply dishonest nonsense!

    • Likewise pretzels.

      Happy Nakba pretzels!

P.S. As of 12:23PM EDT, the UK edition of Der Guardian has the same tearful story.

If you can’t do the time, don’ t do the crime.

Here is an example of “palestinian” youth risking their lives for the benefit of Islamofascist preachers/teachers and “progressive Western journalists”.

Palestinians ambush Jews with rocks and photographers

  9. Is this what Islamists mean by brotherly love?

What is it about these charmers? Inciting others to go out and kill and die while they are safe at home.
