H/T Israel Matzav
Here’s something to consider as the Palestinian Authority takes its case for statehood to the UN.
As CBN reported:
“Israel supporters are sounding the alarm on a controversial law in the Palestinian Authority that forbids Arabs from selling land to Jews.”
“[Recently, in the Palestinian Territories] Mohammed, [the brother of a Palestinian named Abraham] was accused of selling a house to Jewish settlers. Just days after the new residents moved in, Mohammed’s dead body was found on the road between Jericho and Jerusalem.”
“Abraham suspects someone killed his brother because of the belief that he sold a house to Jews.”
Yes, selling land to Jews is punishable by death in the PA.
As Israel Matzav observed:
“What are the odds of your hearing that from the Western mainstream media?”
Pretty slim.
What are the odds that the Guardian will report it:
Zero.

What do you have in common with Mya Guarnieri ?
- just off the boat, can’t speak the language, knows a limited number of Israelis in a narrow circle, ignorant of much background material to current events (as I have pointed out to you many times).
- ignores reality, deals with problems by ignoring or downplaying them.
- preaches to Israeli public instead of merely expressing opinions.
But I see that it doesn’t matter in your case, because it’s all for a good cause (how similar to the govt’s anti-democratic legislation!) BTW, what is the mission of this site? It’s becoming harder to remember as the days pass: to combat the Guardian – because it is ignorant of much background material, ignores reality and preaches to the Israeli public – not bashing the Israeli left.
Well, I’m out of here. I spent time this weekend doing something useful – posting comments on articles in the various NZ newspapers, including the Southland Times, which I see none of the super-patriots here bothered to do. To visit this site is to wallow in a cesspool of hate. I feel sorry for you that you enjoy it. Good luck.

Gee, what a revelation. We should all stop blogging to our respective audiences and start arguing with morons (who don’t change their opinions by the way) in the comment section of unknown newspapers, great idea!

Let me briefly expand on this comment. The people you’re going to win over are not the people who spend 30 seconds posting “Zionazi Israhell scum. Israel is an apartheid state, free Palestine!!!” because believe me, I’ve tried only to ultimately be ignored or just called a fascist.
The people you’re going to win over are those who may lean slightly towards one side or the other, but remain open to ideas and the well… the truth. One of the best tools for doing that are well written blogs that expose the hypocrisy, double-standards and flat out misinformation of Israel’s antagonists. Even if you’re going to argue with idiots in comment sections, then it’s infinitely better to have a page or blog to be able to link back to. All it takes is one click or one tweet and you may find yourself having several repeat visitors who then explore your site and those related, indeed I discovered Cif Watch via Elder of Ziyon and my literally unknown and terribly written blog already appears to have a small return-readership (sorry for not blogging often if you’re reading this) just from a couple of tweets/shameless plugging.
Where words are now just as potent as weapons thanks to technology, blogs are an invaluable tool.

You’re talking about both pro- and anti-Israel posters, I take it?

Darn! Another irony meter goes busted to heck!
“To visit this site is to wallow in a cesspool of hate.”
Just a little fewer articles from Haaretz (Israel’s leading Hebrew-language Arab newspaper) posted here (by you know whom) and the situation is set to improve.

This site now has increasingly little to do with its original mission of challenging excessive anti-Israel material and indeed anti-Semitism @ the Guardian.

pretzels, Note the title of this article.
“What the Guardian won’t report: Selling land to Jews punishable by death in Palestinian territories”
Is this article in line with CiFWatch mission?
Care to tally CiFWatch articles and check whether the misison is being fulfilled?

Good catch, TGIAI.
I have a hunch none of these complaints would be voiced if a blog of this type were constantly off-topic with regard to its mission but in line with pro-Arab political orthodoxy.
FWIW, all blogs have a tendency to drift. I once kept a blog, and after a few months I had to maintain a conscious effort to stick to the stated topic of the blog. But I don’t think all these “CiFWatch is straying away from its mission” comments are made in honesty, especially not when coming from the serial Haaretz article linker, MTC.

I will continue – as many posters here do not – to alert CiFW to anti-Semitism and excessive anti-Israel material @ the Guardian.
It’s just a shame that the site has IMO become more political since it was launched.

Another Joshua
Yes. This story has been around for a very long time. It clearly underlines the raist position of the PA and does not bode well for future good relations. Awhile ago I posted a comment on Robin Shepherd’s Blog and I stood corrected by Walid Shoebat. Mr Shoebat’s comment was interesting indeed.:
“Another Joshua Says:
September 22nd, 2010 at 8:08 am
This “law” has been around since Jordanian times (and before, back to Ottoman times), but many Palestinian Arab officials as well as other Arabs have disregarded it and profited. That it is racist (death penalty for heaven sake!) and implemented from time to time, and that the PA will insist on no Jewish residents in any prospective new State is a clear and present danger to those trying negotiate a compromise, that a future prospective neighboring state will remain a threat to Israel’s existence – a first step to attempting to acquire the whole of Israel, unless there is a radical shift in the Arab World that recognizes Jewish nationhood.

No. Killing Palestinians that sold land to Jews was way before Jordan. When Abdul Qader Al-Husseni was appointed by Haj Amin (Adolf Hitler’s puppet) to execute so many chieftans (Mukhtars) in the whole region. Anyone that was considered peaceful or had connection with the Jews were to be executed. Of course, the Hussenis sold land to Jews yet they were immune. I should know this, my grand father was one of these who escaped the massacre due to his connections with the Husseini family. Many were not so lucky. This massacre between 1936 and 1938 carried out by Husseni’s men is so well known and well documented which included Sheikh Daoud Ansari (Imam of Al Aqsa Mosque), Sheikh Ali Nur el Khattib (Al Aqsa Mosque), Sheikh Nusbi Abdal Rahim (Council of Muslim Religious Court), Sheikh Abdul el Badoui (Acre, Palestine), Sheikh El Namouri (Hebron), and Nasr El Din Nassr (Mayor of Hebron). Between Feb. 1937 and Nov. 1938, eleven Mukhtars (community leaders) and their entire families were slain by Amin al Husseni’s men.

Palestinian Arab nationalists +always+ said selling land to Jews was a capital offence or treachery.
Something one might like to bear in mind every time someone brings up the JNF.

In the 1930s, following mufti Husseini’s fatwa, Arabs were prohibited to sell land, which wasn’t theirs in the first place; while Jews were willing to pay money in order to recover their birthright without resorting to force.
That assumpsit kinda defied common sense.
