Yaacov Lozowick is shutting down his blog, Yaacov Lozowick’s Ruminations, to pursue other ventures – likely, he will become Israel’s State Archivist - and I’d like to take this opportunity to express how much his voice will be missed to those of us who have followed his especially informed and thoughtful posts on (as he described his focus) “Israel, Jewish Matters, history and how they all affect each other.”
Yaacov was a rare breed of blogger – possessing the erudition of a scholar (his book, “The Right to Exist: A moral defense of Israel’s Wars“, is a must read for those engaged in the rhetorical defense of Israel), the tenacity of a journalist (his posts on the danger of dividing Jerusalem included Yaacov’s own first hand reports from the Jerusalem neighborhoods delineating the “East” and “West” parts of the city), and the capacity to recognize nuance and morally gray areas so uncommon in the politically charged world of blogging. Hyperbole and vitriol were never part of Yaacov’s rhetorical arsenal.
Yaacov has new site, here, which is naturally worth visiting, though (as he noted) it’s uncertain how it will evolve.
However, though he won’t be publishing new posts at Yaacov Lozowick’s Ruminations, I’d highly recommend looking at the following two permanent pages from his blog:
At Don’t Divide Jerusalem Yaacov collected links to the 15 essays he wrote explaining and demonstrating why he thinks the idea of dividing Jerusalem is a travesty which, should it ever be implemented, will be the root of the next war.
At Seeking Peace, Living at War he collected the dozen or so essays about war and peace which he hopes will have some value for readers who might stumble upon them even well after they were written.
Though the pro-Israel blogosphere will indeed be poorer in his absence, please join us in wishing him well in his new pursuits and thanking him for his immense contributions.

Lozowick will be an enormous loss. Almost the only blog I read (except for this one, of course).
His series of videos on the futility of dividing Jerusalem should be required viewing for all those who think they have the answer to the Middle East’s problems.

You know, if you watch the video of Israel’s official account of the 67 war, the camera sweeps over Jerusalem showing a great aerial view. If you then go to Jerusalem today and see what Israel’s building programme has done to transform the city, to build settlements around it, etc. Well, it’s ethnic cleansing. If anyone has done anything to create tensions in al-Quds, it is the fascist Jerusalem local authority. And they line up useful goons like this website to defend them. Hope you know you’re being used.

Sanity: do you long for the good old days when Jews were denied access to the Western Wall and Jordanian snipers shot Jewish pedestrians ? I assume that you think that the eviction of all Jews from the Old City and the dynamiting of the synagogues was not ethnic cleansing, but rather the fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.

No, I would rather have a city not dominated by fascists, Israeli and Arab. Your argument is a non sequitur (that’s Latin by the way) anyway. My point was about the Israeli building programme. Write about that in response to me, don’t just try to change the subject.

You are bragging the second time about knowing only one Latin word and trying to demonstrate your superior culture.
How many words do you know in Hebrew and in Arabic?
Azzal a felteglaval kene teged fejbeverni amivel a melledet dongeted.
(that’s not Hebrew even not Arabic BTW)

Let’s try an English sentence instead: ‘usually the best way to counter an argument is to address its points’.

Sanity you mistakenly confuse yourself with someone else who I’m ready to argue with. While you are spitting your hate of Jews in your polite dinner parties you are not a subject of interest of mine at all, you don’t represent any danger even not the smallest irritation. (although undoubtedly you are a valuable asset here showing the readers the real face of a typical British racist pseudo intellectual).
Your (and your kind of persons’) existence should worry your own environment, you are not my concern.

Sorry, can you substantiate your claim that I hate Jews? Any references? Otherwise please retract immediately.

Oh, of course the solution to ending fascism is to hand the Old City over the Palestinian Authority, right? Then, we can wait for the day that Hamas or another fundamentalist party wins elections and then proceeds to tear down synagogues again. Of course, people like “Sanity” won’t care. They didn’t care from 1948-1967 when Jordan did exactly that. Why would they care now?
BTW Sanity, besides Jews is there an ethnic group for whom you believe housing should be restricted?

Your pronouncements are just ill-informed provocations.

Ethnic cleansing would be the demolition of Arab houses
and the expelling of inhabitants. That is not the case. It takes a twisted mind to consider building houses as a form of ethnic cleansing.

Excellent point. Since that’s exactly what they do.

You should understand Sanity. He wants back the good old days when the Palestinians built public toilets using the headstones from the old Jewish cemetery in jerusalem.Anyway he should be mourning today – three more poor deluded guys have been killed on the Syrian border attempting to destroy the border fence and enter Israel. He should be – but he doesn’t – his kind of British polite dinner party hosts don’t give a whatever – they are only sending the natives to die – a good subject for the evening chat.

Indeed, those Palestinians on the border *are* deluded. They are useful idiots for the Assad regime, just like you are a useful idiot for the Israeli fascists.

I understand that to know the facts after witnessing them personally and not learn them from different anti-semite propaganda surces is useful idiocy in your book.
Israeli fascists?! You should prepare yourself for hosting your polite dinner party today and wash your mouth. (Won’t help you much…)
