BeatonTheDonis’ f*ck the fascists comment seems to have given license to others to insult the pro-Israel posters in the Weingarten thread:
Here’s companyee’s undeleted comment:
And here’s toryzionist’s level-headed reply:
Guess what folks?

Abandon hope
I am pleased that CIFWatch is pointing out ad hominum attacks. Surprised …bemused …but pleased.

Good God. Quite an interesting look at what “power” (to delete) does to an individual. It would be good to hear from Mitnaged on the psychology of the power derived from deleting opposing viewpoints.

Not sure which is more bizarre – Tebbit’s comment or companyee’s reference to it.

Hello, Tom
I think it’s more interesting to speculate about what might happen if such a person were to be deprived of the power to delete/eradicate a post which disagreed with the GWV.
It’s not beyond possibility that the mods are drawn from a similar sort of ideological gene pool to the writers on CiF and may even be related to them. For example we have BellaM as the most definite lowest common denominator of mod, but for all we know the equivalent of all Rabbit’s (or Georgina Henry’s) friends and relations might be employed as mods on CiF.
I imagine that these mods are incapable of putting any statement within an appropriate context other than their own preconceived ideas of what they think the poster means (which is in turn coloured by their own biases) and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some sort of word search which weeded out the so-called “offensive” statements (ie those which support Israel and condemn Islamism) for use when the likes of Berchmans is out posting something and isn’t near the “Delete” button.
It’d be probably be impossible for any mod to work at such close quarters to the bilge that CiF spews out without being affected by it. That being the case remaining closed-minded and GWV-oriented is likely to be a necessity if they want to keep their jobs – heaven forbid they should actually be allowed to think for themselves.
It must cause the more intelligent of them considerable cognitive dissonance to have to read the high class and almost invariably better expressed pro-Israel arguments, so I would guess that there’s a high turnover of intelligent mods. Those who stick it out long-term are probably idealistic/unrealistic foreclosed adolescents recruited from Islamic societies in universities or from the PSC and other organisations for a minimum wage to supplement their student incomes.
Welded as all these probably are to the GWV and inclined as they must be to do the dirty on pro-Israel posters, (particularly on Jewish pro-Israel posters) actually to be given the power to do so must give them a real rush. The one who premoderated Prof Alderman must almost have had an orgasm of delight at his/her power to do that.
If I am correct then to deprive them of that power would probably result in narcissistic injury and you’d then find them on places like electronicintifada blethering on about Jewish/Israeli plots and power and thinking that they are actually making a difference.

Who gave my comment the 1-star rating?
Surely nobody here would disagree that much with it?
