Oh, but it DID happen.
In 1948 when the combined Arab armies attacked Israel, there was an arms embargo from both the USA and the UK.
Israel was forced to accept temporary cease-fires ad the Arabs were never made to surrender, OR to accept any of the cease-fire lines to become final borders.
As is common in the revisionist history that is force-fed above the line and grows like a mushroom below the line at the guardian, statements like the above posts are based on projections with little if any understanding of reality.
I wonder what country this chuchem from the ma nishtana because it would really be funny if he was from the UK, one of only 2 countries that recognized Jordan’s annexation of the other bank.
Isn’t it incredible that all these people out there who are moaning and groaning about OMG occupation…..had no such ideas floating in their minds when it was Egypt ad Jordan who were “occupying palestinian land”.

It happened again in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War when the British used an embargo against Israel even didn’t allow the US planes delivering desperately needed weapons to Israel refuel in the UK. As usual the Brits abandoned the Jews hoping that they will be annihilated and they can have the Haifa refinery back again.

The headline of the article is completely correct. This is “nothing like advocating the destruction of Israel.”
It is a violence-dripping post advocating an attack which would involve civilian deaths and destabilise the ME. A major attack.
Israel carried out a major attack on Gaza last year but if anyone on CIF said the purpose was “the destruction of ” Gaza they would find their post on CIFwatch pretty damn quick.

Berchmans, “… but if anyone on CIF said the purpose was “the destruction of ” Gaza they would find their post on CIFwatch pretty damn quick.”
Please explain what you mean. In your usual idiotic burbling way you are making no sense whatsoever.

Yes, I recall that post and thinking at the time: hmmm …. sounds as if they WANT Israel to suffer an attack.

Come on, Peter. That’s not fair. No British government has ever wanted to see the Jews annihilated.
Or were you talking about myself and British people in general?

”
Hawkeye uses the expression “destruction.” This has spoilt an otherwise promising article. All calls for any violence against Israel must be condemned.

Naturally I’m speaking about the government. There are Brits like Berchmans and Seumas Milne and there are others like yourself. If I would speak in general terms , I would say that a very big number of the members of the British upper middle class and intelligentsia is stinking from anti-Semitism.

“Come on, Peter. That’s not fair. No British government has ever wanted to see the Jews annihilated.”-pedantpretzel to the other peter
The Fact remains that Britain did not allow American planes carrying weapons to refuel in the UK, when Israel was teetering on the brink of disaster.
Golly gee, maybe they did that just for sport so they could set odds and make book on the results eh.
