Here’s a good example from the recent Ben White thread of how anti-Israel bias plays into the moderation of “Comment is Free” threads:
As can be seen from the first comment, the poster is advocating the one-state solution, a position that denies the Jewish nation its right to self determination and which is repugnant and deeply offensive, not to mention antisemitic, to those that would have to live with its consequences. Contrast this with illimite’s deleted comment which supports a different kind of one-state solution.
Now if the moderators saw fit to delete illimite’s comment, why was his/her comment deleted but dizzylizzy’s not?

Besides an anti-Semitic double standard, the Guardian may have deleted illimite’s comment because s/he impllicitly posed a question of substance:
Why does the Guardian think the Palestinians have a right to three states (Jordan, West Bank, Gaza) and the Jews not even one?

Yo
Apparently, suggesting that Palestinians merge with their fellow Arabs in Jordan, which is where the vast majority of historic Palestine sits, is offensive to Guardian moderators.
But suggesting that Palestinians merge with Israel, which is another way of suggesting ‘destroy the Jewish state of Israel by making them merge with millions of people who hate Jews and would undo Israel’s existence and make Israeli Jews a minority under an Arab Islamic majority, resulting in Israel’s destruction, and probably resulting in nonstop fighting and the fleeing of millions of Israeli Jews’ is a great peaceful idea

Deleted 4 times, but then you can expect to get deleted on CiF if you respond to all the horse shit that gets posted about Israel.
Especially on The Boy from Brazil’s thread. The smirky little beady blue eyed blond doesn’t allow dissent on his threads.

The guardian promotes both above and below the line that Jordan was never a part of Palestine and any post that claims otherwise will be deleted.
Countless posts below the line state the old canard so matter-of-factly, Jordan was never a part of the Palestine Mandate, it was always a separate entity and anybody who says otherwise is one of “those Zionists”.
It is an extremely important basis of establishing the revisionism, and since it doesn’t stand up to the simplest of scrutiny, they have no choice but to delete, ban, stifle anybody who points out that it is a blatant LIE.
Oh seaton, my seaton….where is the balance that you want to provide….

Great that this was ‘caught’ Hawkeye. So difficult for them to equivocate when the ‘photographic’ evidence has been archived.
Nothing would surprise me in The Guardian/CiF editorial management using so called ‘moderation’ to promote its ‘twisted interpretation of reality to its readers.
How many people do you have keeping records of this kind of behavior from a newspaper that claims to present a ‘balanced view’?

The big lies are those that Jordan was not part of the Mandate,
–Palestinians are all indigenous, and Jews aren’t,
– Jerusalem is an Arab city,
– there is an East Jerusalem ….
and more

Why do you refrain from strongly-worded vocabulary when referring to the second poster – which is denying Palestinians their right to self determination?

Duvid Crocket,
I am waiting on your new album! very good stuff

Yo
Hey pretzelberg:
Palestinian ‘right to self-determination’ seems to also mean destroying Israel.
If their ‘right to self-determination’ ever means peace NEXT TO Israel, it would receive a lot more support from Israel.
But if you are going to talk history, 80 percent of Palestine became Jordan in the early 1900′s. That’s the bulk of ‘Palestinian’ self-determination right there if your view of history goes further than 100 years.

Does anybody here really think that if we gave the palestinians Judea and Samaria and East Jerusalem, that that will be it .That we will all live in peace and harmony forever after.
As soon as the palestinians get Judea and Samaria and East Jerusalem, they will demand the whole of Jerusalem,Kiryat Shmona,Haifa,Tel-Aviv,Beer Sheva and Eilat. And everything else in between.
