Do you honestly think that the Quran and a Beatles song can be used in the same comparison because both have inspired evil acts? Through this point, your implication is that all these terrorists have simply misread or misunderstood or misinterpreted the basic tenets of the Quran, which are peaceful.

This implication is simply wrong. The Quran explicitly calls for these acts to be undertaken in the name of Islam. ie. To a religious Muslim the terrorists are indeed acting religiously and righteously. Unfortunately when the religious texts call for such barbaric acts, then these texts must be pointed out as the abhorences that they are, even if this means insulting 1.5 billion people.

A-ha – the star ratings. I rarely click on them myself – and only when (and even then far from always) I feel strongly about a comment.

The practice is childish, expressing pique instead of an evaluation of the opinion. Clicking on stars to show attitude to the commenter instead of the comment – when several have the same opinion and one is singled out – it’s obvious

I’ve seen these comments before about trolls playing Star Wars.

He talks about the lack of ambulances in Gaza during Cast Lead – implying that it was Israel’s fault when anyone who read the newspapers and has even an average memory will know that Hamas had stolen the ambulances that the UN had sent for the Red Cross to use for their own purposes.

The second sentence to catch my eye was to the effect that the IDF operates in Biliín ‘with full force’. Full force by the IDF would mean bodies littering the floor and the village itself captured. The truth is that they respond patiently to the hurling of boulders with sling shots, a potentially lethal form of attack.

So, thanks Jody, you have reinforced my original impression.

I mean, the full force of the Israeli army does conjure up images of destruction…..or is he just mangling reality and describing the soldiers manning their stations and causing minimal harm to those they are keeping in order.

This sampling is typical of the rhetoric used above and below the line at the guardian, keeper of the electronic intifada, revisionism on steroids.

The Beatles reference was about Charles Manson being “inspired” by Helter Skelter to murder people.
