Seth Freedman’s nonstop anger and bitterness toward Israel shows that Seth Freedman is a particularly angry and unhappy person. I worked with some people like that. There was always a bit of the bully about them, much as we see in Seth Freedman’s response to people who disagree with him. He answers critics on the CIF thread and always in an insulting and snobbish way. ProIsrael writers disgust him, they are the Jews he long since left behind. He sees himself as a progressive, a man who is hip and avant garde, a man at the barricades. Freedman sees himself as one of the angry young men from a John Osborne play. And all of his anger, Freedman directs toward Israel. He spits out the name Israel with such venom that clearly some irrational force is at work.

In between things at work I stopped by the Freedman thread to see what was happening. Interestingly, I noticed that at one point there were 104 comments – then only 99!! Comments that referred to CW were “disappeared” – the dear old Guardian is SO-O-O-O Stalinistic its really quite funny – rewriting history in the hope no-one will notice, airbrushing people out of its comment columns … sending them to the gulag
And on that note – PeterParker – welcome to the club of the great banned!

Those 5 have to be counted as deletions so the rate for 131 posts total is 16%. Almost 25% of the 17 named deletions were posts from paCIFism.
Obviously we can’t know unless people tell us how many comments are rejected in pre-moderation.

Seethe is neither scared nor going anywhere,he’s just an opportunist who sways with the breeze. He will say and write anything that his handlers tell him to.Don’t forget that this guy used to be a banker, and has the morals of a banker.
He’s just a monkey and the organ grinders are jerking his chain.Time to ratchet up the pressure on him.

Seth Freedman should be boycotted. Having called for a boycott of Israeli companies he should enioy a taste of his own medicine. He appears to crave attention and will say anything to get it. He is not about to let the facts get in the way.

Seethe thinks that he is a big fish in the tiny CIF pond, where he has his doting brown-nosed cheer squad.Berchmans and MartynInEurope being two of his most ardent supporters, there isn’t a Seethe article that Martyn didn’t like,no matter how wanky.
I wouldn’t piss on this Seethe if he was on fire.

Seth Freedman reminds me of the old expression that “a carpenter will always find a nail.” Freedman’s sole job as a Guardian columnist is to report about bad things Israelis do and noble things that Palestinians do. So Freedman surfs the internet until he finds some story about some oafish fellow who did some unpleasant things. Freedman then plays up the story big and writes as if he uncovered tectonic forces at work. And the culprit is always a fanatical Israeli and the victim an innocent and noble Palestinian. This way Seth Freedman can attain the emotional high that he seems to thrive on. In his own mind, he is uncovering Israels unadulterated evil and defending the always angelic and pure of heart and motive Palestinians. Actually, Mr. Freedman condescends to Palestinians when he insists that any crimes or acts of terrorism by Palestinians are merely a result of “occupation”. This is really the soft bigotry of low expectations and it fits Freedman like a glove.

Sid Bachrach I think you give Freedman too much credit to assume he even surfs the ‘net looking for stories – he simply makes a lot up, though he has reduced the amount after repeated condemnations of his predilection to report conversations with unnamed taxi-drivers, falafel or pizza vendors, etc, who are then supposed to represent the views of all Israelis.

Personally I think that this boycott is childish and ineffective. I suggest a more positive tactic – swamp his threads with responses that address the points raised in the article (and not other comments) so that the Moderator will have no excuse to erase them.
I noted that the tactic of inserting a link to CifWatch is also very effective; a lot of comments yesterday indicated that posters discovered this site as a result (all these comments referring to CifWatch were subsequently deleted).

It looks like they are resorting to a new tactic to tidy things up and make the threads look a little less like sieves – methodically going through and removing even the usual “This comment has been deleted” markers. The idea being to demonstrate less clearly how much is deleted (by all sides, BTW – I’m not suggesting this is only done to pro- or anti- comments as the case may be). If you have the time on your hands to watch the “number of comments” given, you’ll see it fluctuate DOWN from time to time as comments are “disappeared”.
I don’t think its ineffective – its made a point, and the majority of comments are from a relatively small number of people banging their heads against each other over and over – sucked into an argument with talknic/pokingpinnochio, for example without realizing who they are dealing with – a 63=year old retired alte kakker with nothing else to do but incessantly post variations on the same theme over and over again. Most of the comments are valueless or simply mutually vituperative. Not a high-class operation.

I did notice that Seth Freedman does seem to have lots of conversations with cab drivers, guys he overhears in restaurants and on the sidewalks and just coincidentally, these people are always saying the things that Seth Freedman wants them to say. These people, whom Freedman never seems to mention by name, are usually racist bullies and religious fanatics who by pure chance save their most outlandish statements for the exact time that Seth Freedman just happens to be on the same sidewalk or in the same restaurant. I looked back at Freedman’s columns and noticed that he has been getting sloppier at his fictitious Israeli racists who somehow always are spouting out nonsense just when Ole Seth is within earshot. Lately even Seth’s fictional portrayals are easy to spot and disprove. Here are my three favorite reporters: Jayson Blair of the New York Times, Stephen Glass of the New Republic and Seth Freedman of the Guardian.

Peter Parker is banned? That is nonsense …he was unconsciously hysterical with his “Live long and prosper.” It totally summed up the Brit vs the US poster ( you excluded) We give the world Shakespeare you give us Star Trek!
